FACTS Consultancy is more than a football data & consultancy company. We are the partner of football agents and clubs. FACTS is where the passion for consulting begins and never ends. Since we started FACTS Consultancy, we have managed to create a reliable number of partners and provide our support with data analysis to player agents and clubs all around the world. An important part of our analysis in our Player Consultancy is our transfer analysis.
To determine which step is the best to make for a player’s career, we define our transfer analysis in two parts. In our top-down transfer analysis, we take all transfers made by players with similar characteristics and Player Levels into consideration. Using advanced statistical methods, we can predict the likelihood of success for a transfer to each club. In our bottom-up transfer analysis, we analyse the playing style of a player at his current club and compare it to other clubs to determine where his playing style would fit best. We use a machine learning algorithm, which takes team and player statistics (passing, offensive, defensive, minutes, Player Level & GCI, etc.) into account.
After two years of existence, we have done a lot of transfer analyses for multiple players and agencies. The Player Levels of the players we helped with our analysis diverge. Below you can read some examples of players we helped successfully.
The 23-year old midfielder joined the AZ-youth academy in 2009. He played 116 games for the first team, and he scored 36 goals. During his last couple of seasons at AZ it became clear that he was ready to take the next step, but which step was the best to take? And there we got involved. We did a transfer analysis for the midfielder (2020). One of the clubs that came out as a suitable club for Koopmeiners was Atalanta Bergamo. Last transfer window, the Dutchman moved to Atalanta. Since his arrival at Bergamo, he has played in every Champions League game so far, and he is impressive in the Serie A as well.
Sepp van den Berg
The central defender made a transfer from PEC Zwolle to Liverpool FC at the very young age of 17. With world-class players like Virgil van Dijk, Joël Matip, Joe Gomez, and later Ibrahima Konaté, it was clear that the Dutch youngster was a transfer with an eye on the future. But to keep developing, it was important for Van den Berg to keep playing. That’s why Van den Berg and his management Key Sports Management considered a loan. One of the clubs out of our transfer analysis was Preston North End. Sepp van den Berg has currently played 37 official games for the club in North England, most of them without getting substituted. We can conclude that the step he took was good for his development based on our data, within one year his Player Level increased significantly.
Besides the transfer analysis, we analyse the statistics of players and compare them to each other. On this basis, we can conclude points of improvement and the strengths of a player. Steven Bergwijn used to be a promising talent at PSV, and he wanted to make a move at a certain point. But based on our data analysis, he wasn’t satisfied with the results and wanted to make the move to bigger clubs. Herefore he had to improve first. We made an analysis every couple of months to control and monitor his development and point out his specific points of improvement. Eventually, the clubs that came out of the transfer analysis were clubs of a higher level, one of them was Tottenham Hotspur.
